live above the sand in the plants at the bottom of the sea. |
Food They
eat fish, jellyfish, baby sea horses, and sometimes eat baby piranhas. |

Appearance They
camouflage into the sand so that their prey cannot see them.
They have poisonous fins and spines.
They use their spines to kill or catch what they eat. |

Babies The
mother lays her eggs in a ditch in the sand.
The dad swallows the eggs until they are ready to hatch. |
Fun Facts In
a group there are about 12-14 fish. The
Chines call Stonefish “Spikies.”
They have poisonous spikes that they use to defend themselves from
enemies. |
