"These dioramas are easy, fun, and tropically tasteful!"
Materials:
 |
showboxes lids |
 |
white paper |
 |
colored rock (fish tank rock) |
 |
ocean pictures (whales, sharks, fish, invertebrates, kelp, coral etc.) photocopies onto
manila tag paper. fishline |
 |
blue and green crepe paper (cut into 1/4" wide strips) |
 |
hot glue gun |
 |
white glue |
 |
glue sticks |
Directions:
- Send home white paper for parents to cover a shoebox (bottom and lid).
- Using a hot glue gun, glue the lid to the side of the shoebox to form the base of the
diorama.
- Paint the entire box blue.
- Using a hot glue gun or white glue (this will take longer to dry), glue the colored rock
to the base of the box and the lid. This will give the effect of the bottom of the ocean.
- Color the pictures brightly, then glue them into the diorama.
- Glue the coral and kelp to the diorama.
- Using the fish line, hang the whales, fish, invertebrates etc. from the top of the
diorama. This will give the effect of the animals swimming through the water.
- Attach the strips of blue and green crepe paper from the inside top of the box. This
gives the effect of kelp beds rising from the seabed.
