Pacific Portholes

"Pacific Portholes"

"Ahoy Mates!"

Materials:

·        large paper plates

·        aluminum foil

·        saran wrap

·       liquid tempera paints (blue)

·        glue gun

·        paintbrushes

Directions:

1.      Cut a circle through the inside of the paper plate as wide as the inner part of the rim.

2.    Cut a piece of aluminum foil the size of the plate to fit its circumference.

3.    Crumple the foil to give it a textured look.

4.    Paint the piece of tin foil with a fairly heavy coat of blue liquid paint.

5.    When dry, hot glue the foil to the back of the plate (Tip:  Be sure that the paint is completely dry).

6.    On the tin foil part, and using a thinner paintbrush, paint a "sea" scene.   An octopus swimming around some kelp and coral makes a great underwater scene!

"Although some supervision is required, this craft is easy for young school aged children to complete independently. "
